Tucson Loan Signing FAQs

Why do I need a notary signing agent?
A regular notary public is not authorized to perform a loan signing. Because of the extra-sensitive nature of the loan-signing documents and the need to explain what they mean, signing agents are required to pass a yearly background check and comprehension/best practices test. They must carry additional E&O insurance. Notary signing agents also need to have a dual-tray printer and reliable computer, which regular notaries may not have.

Where do we perform the signing?
We can come to your house, office, lender’s office, coffee shop, etc.—wherever is convenient for you. Please choose a location that has a table and chairs. We need room to spread out the papers, and we’ll be there for a while, so we want somewhere comfortable to sit.

What do I need to bring to the loan signing?
If the lender sent you the loan package directly, have that ready. You also need a valid photo ID. Loan packages sometimes ask for a secondary form of ID—such as a utility bill, paycheck stub, tax statement, or organizational membership card—so it’s a good idea to have that on hand.

How long does the signing take?
Signing lengths vary depending on the type of loan, the documents required by different lenders, and the number of people signing. Some packages can be more than 200 pages. Please allow up to an hour and a half to complete the signing. It probably won’t take that long, but you don’t want to rush it. A missing signature could mean having to sign the whole thing again.

What if I change my mind?
If you decide at any time during the signing that you are uncomfortable with a certain document or you don’t want the loan after all, we will halt the signing and call your lender. Our notaries will never pressure you into signing anything that you do not want to sign.

Can we do a remote online notarization of loan documents?
Yes, we can do a RON loan signing if you are located outside of Tucson. You will need a reliable internet connection and a computer with a camera and microphone. You will need to remain in front of your camera for the entire signing, which could take up to two hours, depending on the size of the loan package and any potential technological difficulties. Please note that we need the documents at least 24 hours prior to the signing.

After the RON loan signing is completed, we will send the signed and notarized documents directly to your lender and/or title company. The RON notarization process certifies that the documents are authentic, and a record of every action taking during the signing is automatically produced.

Why are RON signings more expensive than mobile signings?
RON signings require much more upfront and back-end work than traditional signings. The signings also take longer and often have technological issues that require troubleshooting. In addition, we incur multiple fees from the signing platform. In short, it costs you more because it costs us more.
